EYES

EYES: The eye's anatomy includes several key structures:

  • Cornea: The clear, dome-shaped front part of the eye that focuses light.
  • Iris: The colored part of the eye that controls the size of the pupil.
  • Pupil: The opening in the center of the iris that allows light to enter.
  • Lens: Located behind the pupil, it focuses light onto the retina.
  • Retina: The light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye that sends visual signals to the brain.

Understanding these components can help in maintaining eye health and recognizing potential issues early.

FOOT

Proper foot care is essential for individuals with type 2 diabetes to prevent complications such as infections, ulcers, and potential amputations. Diabetes can reduce blood flow and damage nerves, making wounds more likely to get infected and harder to heal, increasing the risk of amputation.

Daily Foot Care Routine:

  1. Inspect Your Feet Daily:
    • Examine your feet for cuts, blisters, redness, swelling, or nail problems.
    • Use a mirror to check the bottoms of your feet if you have difficulty seeing them.

  1. Wash Your Feet Carefully:
    • Wash your feet daily with warm (not hot) soapy water.
    • Gently dry your feet, especially between the toes, to prevent fungal infections.

  1. Moisturize Your Feet:
    • Apply a gentle moisturizer to keep skin soft and prevent cracks.
    • Avoid moisturizing between the toes to reduce the risk of fungal growth.

  1. Trim Toenails Carefully:
    • Trim nails straight across and file any sharp edges.
    • Seek professional help if you have difficulty trimming your nails.

  1. Wear Appropriate Footwear:
    • Choose well-fitting, closed-toe shoes to protect your feet.
    • Avoid walking barefoot to prevent injuries.

  1. Manage Blood Sugar Levels:
    • Keep your blood sugar levels within the target range to promote healing and prevent complications.

  1. Regular Check-ups:
    • Have your feet examined by a healthcare professional at least once a year.
